A Christmas Carol
The Tale of Ebenezer Scrooge
An Illustrated Story
An exhibition of over 50 illustrations depicting various scenes from Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol is on view at the Westfield State Downtown Art Gallery. The exhibit was a semester class project of Prof. Faith Lund's Gallery Management Class at the University. The mission was to join community and university together for a common goal. The artists included students from the class, Westfield State faculty, staff and local artists. This exhibit displays the vision of Scrooge in a very personal manner. The gallery is fully festooned with a decorated tree and interior replicated in the Old English style. The exhibit is also a part of Dickens Days, a city-wide holiday celebration produced by Westfield Business Improvement District, Westfield on Weekends, the City of Westfield and Westfield State University.
As part of this collaboration, a book was created including all of the illustrations in the exhibit identified and coordinated with the text of A Christmas Carol, Dickens’s much loved holiday classic. The book is available at the galleryfor $15. All proceeds benefit the continued good work of the gallery in bringing nationally and locally known artists to the Westfield community.
